Softball Recap: Ledford Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for Ledford's offense. They fell 4-0 to the Oak Grove Grizzlies on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Leah Leonard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Ledford's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Oak Grove, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Ledford is set to take on their familiar foe North Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3, the Black Knights 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Oak Grove will challenge rival Montgomery Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Grizzlies' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Timberwolves have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
