Basketball Recap: Northwestern Takes a Loss

Northwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 74-23 defeat at the hands of the Rock Hill Bearcats. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Bearcats are ranked 29th).

Northwestern got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Autumn Linen and Camryn Bennett, who each put up six points. Linen also led the team in rebounds with six.

Rock Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aubrey Stevenson led the charge by dropping a double-double with 21 points and 11 assists. The game was Stevenson's third in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Chloe Hudson, who shot 5-for-9 from deep and dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards.

Northwestern's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Rock Hill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Northwestern will host Indian Land at 6:30 p.m. on February 14th. As for Rock Hill, they will venture away from home to take on Catawba Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rock Hill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season.
