Softball Recap: Red Mountain's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Red Mountain had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Xavier College Prep Gators. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mountain Lions also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Kendall Cochran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chloe Ftizpatrick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI. Nina Montenegro was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Red Mountain now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for Xavier College Prep, their defeat ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3-1.

Looking ahead, Red Mountain will challenge Williams Field at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Xavier College Prep, they will face off against Queen Creek at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
