Volleyball Recap: Atholton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hammond last Thursday, Atholton came back down to earth. The Raiders lost 3-0 to the Howard Lions on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

While Atholton had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-18, 25-22.

Despite the defeat, Atholton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Isabelle Lee had five aces and four digs. Lee is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Howard was led to victory by Miranda Ball and Jojo Vassor. Ball had seven digs and three aces, while Vassor had three digs and three aces. What's more, Vassor posted two assists, the most she's had since back in September of 2024.

Atholton now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Howard, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Atholton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Long Reach on the 18th. As for Howard, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Centennial on the 18th.
