Preview: Princeton Tigers vs. Green City Gophers
The Princeton Tigers will be home for the holidays to greet the Green City Gophers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Princeton sitting on six straight wins and Green City on three.
Last Tuesday, everything came up roses for Princeton on the road against North Harrison as the team secured a 57-27 win. Given Princeton's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while North Harrison is ranked 463rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Green City slipped by University Academy Charter 53-52 on Saturday.
Green City found their leader in underclassman Jaryn Hatcher, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Hatcher has scored at least 25% of Green City's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Jeffries, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Princeton pushed their record up to 6-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Green City, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Princeton strolled past Green City in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 57-42. Will Princeton repeat their success, or does Green City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
