Baseball Game Preview: Jackson Christian Eagles vs. Fayette Academy Vikings

The Jackson Christian Eagles will square off against the Fayette Academy Vikings at 6:35 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jackson Christian has nine straight wins, Fayette Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Jackson Christian took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Munford, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Cougars 4-2.

Jackson Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cade Warrington, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fayette Academy came up short against Evangelical Christian on Thursday, falling 15-4.

Jackson Christian's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Fayette Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jackson Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fayette Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went Jackson Christian's way against Fayette Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Jackson Christian made off with an 11-0 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
