Basketball Game Preview: Hoffman Estates Hawks vs. Fremd Vikings

Hoffman Estates is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Fremd is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Hoffman Estates Hawks will welcome the Fremd Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Hoffman Estates proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 55) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-60 victory over Maine East. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Blue Demons: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Fremd hadn't done well against Barrington recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Fremd came out on top against Barrington by a score of 64-52. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Fillies/Broncos are ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hoffman Estates' victory bumped their record up to 20-9. As for Fremd, their win bumped their record up to 23-2.
