Lafayette waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They put the hurt on the St. Martinville Tigers with a sharp 3-0 win. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

One reason for the win was Lafayette's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-17, 25-15.

Lafayette was led to victory by Brae'Ona Smith and Avery Larpenteur. Smith had 17 digs and two aces, while Larpenteur had three digs and three aces. That's the most aces Smith has posted over her last five matches.

Lafayette's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for St. Martinville, with the defeat, they broke their four-match winning streak and moved their record to 10-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lafayette will challenge Eunice at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Martinville, they will square off against Rayne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
