Basketball Recap: Angelise Garcia and Kandace Pargin Secure Win for Sargent

Sargent won against Mancos on Thursday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Everything went the Sargent Farmers' way against the Dove Creek Bulldogs as the Sargent Farmers made off with a 49-23 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Farmers.

Sargent was led to victory by Kandace Pargin and Angelise Garcia. Pargin almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Garcia posted 15 points and seven steals. The dominant performance also gave Pargin a new career-high in assists (five). Tami Torgler was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Despite the defeat, Dove Creek had strong showings from Taylor Hampton, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Ralynn Hickman, who had eight points in addition to ten steals and five boards. Hickman has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played.

Sargent's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Dove Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Sargent wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-31 loss against Centauri on the 7th. As for Dove Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-25 victory against Mancos on the 7th.
