Softball Recap: Lutheran North's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Lutheran North didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over the Romeo Bulldogs on Tuesday. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.

Elise Mantay made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Mantay was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Wodowski, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mikenna Campisi, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Lutheran North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Lutheran North's third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Romeo, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Lutheran North will square off against University Liggett at 4:30 p.m. on the 24th. As for Romeo, they have already played their next match, a 12-2 loss against Dakota on the 17th.
