Basketball Recap: Lennard Takes a Loss

Lennard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Winthrop College Prep Academy Spartans.

JoLesa Birkhead was her usual excellent self, putting up 28 points along with seven boards and five assists for Winthrop College Prep Academy. That makes it 18 consecutive games in which Birkhead has scored at least a third of Winthrop College Prep Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Ramya Atienza, who posted two points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Lennard's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, they moved to 4-15 with that victory, which also ended their 13-game losing streak.

Lennard has already played their next contest, a 47-31 defeat against Hillsborough on the 17th. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 59-19 win against Tampa Prep on the 17th.
