Basketball Game Preview: Sam Houston Texans vs. Lamar Vikings

The Sam Houston Texans will square off against the Lamar Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sam Houston has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 12.

On Friday, Sam Houston came up short against Arlington and fell 44-37.

Meanwhile, Lamar played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 75-35 loss at the hands of South Grand Prairie. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Warriors are ranked 72nd).

Sam Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Lamar, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Sam Houston came up short against Lamar in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 57-45. Can Sam Houston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
