Baseball Recap: Valley Takes Down Green River in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Valley had no trouble coming through when it counted. They skirted past the Green River Pirates 5-3. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 7-1 win last Friday.

The team relied heavily on Hogan Harris, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in August. Bronx Withers was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Green River, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season.

Valley will square off against Intermountain Christian at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday. The Buffalos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 13.6 runs per game this season. Green River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
