Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Paula Aguirre and Dayzriana Quintana Lead Granada to Victory

There's no place like home for Granada, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Kim/Branson Mustangs 31-29. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Leading Granada to victory were Dayzriana Quintana and Paula Aguirre. Quintana dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Aguirre posted six points and 11 boards. Aguirre has become a key player for Granada: the team is undefeated when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 4-7 otherwise.

Granada smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the defeat, Kim/Branson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charlee Buhrle dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. Kennedy Cranson was another key player, putting up four points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals.

Granada's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Kim/Branson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, Granada and Kim/Branson will both be playing South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] the next time they take the court. Kim/Branson will head out to face South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Granada will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
