Softball Game Preview: Lakewood Leopards vs. Clinton Dark Horses

Lakewood is 2-8 against Clinton since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lakewood Leopards will head out on the road to face off against the Clinton Dark Horses at 6:00 p.m. Lakewood has given up an average of 17.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Lakewood is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 15th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They lost 20-2 to St. Pauls. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Leopards couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Clinton came up short against James Kenan on Thursday, falling 17-6.

Carmella Carlton was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Wilson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Clinton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Lakewood suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Clinton when the teams last played on Wednesday. Can Lakewood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
