Basketball Recap: Mater Dei Catholic's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mater Dei Catholic entered their tilt with Bonita Vista on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bonita Vista Barons, sneaking past 56-53. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Crusaders also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Mater Dei Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ari Krasniqi, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Davaughn Hueitt, who scored 15 points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Bonita Vista still got an impressive performance from Jerry Stokes, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Owens, who put up 14 points along with six boards and three steals.

Mater Dei Catholic now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Bonita Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Madison the next time they take the court. Bonita Vista will head out to face Madison at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Mater Dei Catholic will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
