Basketball Game Preview: Marianna Bulldogs vs. Andrew Jackson Tigers

The Marianna Bulldogs will challenge the Andrew Jackson Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Marianna knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Andrew Jackson likes a good challenge.

Marianna is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They took down Fernandina Beach 72-56. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Pirates are ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marianna can attribute much of their success to Nykavian Bradley, who went 11-for-14 on his way to 24 points, and Mason Mobley, who went 9-for-18 to rack up 23 points and five rebounds. Mobley's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Rj Mayes, who posted nine points along with six boards and five assists.

Meanwhile, Andrew Jackson came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Braves 74-30. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.

Marianna's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. As for Andrew Jackson, their win bumped their record up to 26-2.

Marianna couldn't quite finish off Andrew Jackson when the teams last played back in February of 2022 and fell 63-60. Can Marianna avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
