Softball Recap: Zion Christian Academy Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Zion Christian Academy came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Franklin Admirals. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by eight runs or more this season.

Leighla Rains and Laila Powell did most of the damage at the plate: Rains scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Powell scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Powell has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bella Waller, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Zion Christian Academy's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15-1.

Zion Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 7-2 loss against Wilson Central on the 12th. As for Franklin, they will be playing at home against Centennial at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.53 runs per game on average), something the Admirals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
