Baseball Recap: Holy Cross Has No Trouble Against Holmes

Holy Cross won the last time they faced Holmes and things went their way on Monday too. Holy Cross blew past Holmes 15-2. Considering the Indians have won three games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Holy Cross let Sam Addington and Cooper Brue run wild. Addington scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Brue got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double. That double was Brue's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Holtz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Holy Cross and bumps their season record up to 4-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11 hits in those games compared to only 3.67 in the others. As for Holmes, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will square off against St. Henry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Cross is facing St. Henry at the right time seeing as St. Henry is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Holmes, they will challenge Bishop Brossart at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Holmes' pitchers better be ready for this one: Bishop Brossart has averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
