Volleyball Recap: La Junta Extends Road Winning Streak to Four + How To Watch

It was a proper cat-fight when La Junta took on James Irwin on Thursday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Tigers have posted against the Jaguars since October 19, 2019.

La Junta walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-21, 25-16.

Kayla Ruiz paced La Junta's offense, picking up nine kills. Ruiz got some help from Gabrielle Ojeda and her 21 assists.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lilliana Vanasse, who had 18 digs and one assist. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Trujillo, who had 11 digs and one assist.

La Junta's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-9. As for James Irwin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Looking ahead, La Junta will take on Sierra in a tournament on Saturday. As for James Irwin, they will welcome Banning Lewis Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
