Softball Recap: Blue Mountain Victorious

While Blue Mountain's win against Richford wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bucks narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Falcons 6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-1 on May 5th.

Kaylee Hamlett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Ava Kingsbury and Madalyn Houghton did most of the damage at the plate: Kingsbury got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Houghton went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lillian Roy, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Blue Mountain's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Richford, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Blue Mountain is set to challenge their familiar foe Twinfield at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Richford will face off against rival Williamstown at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
