Maranatha came tearing into Wednesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Whittier Christian Heralds. That's two games straight that the Minutemen have won by just one run.

Bradley Loiacono looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maranatha saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Rivas, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Maranatha's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Whittier Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Maranatha beat Whittier Christian by a score of 3-1 on Thursday.
