Volleyball Recap: Sulphur Springs Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Sulphur Springs had won four straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped up to 27-8 to make it five. They put the hurt on the North Lamar Panthers with a sharp 3-0 victory. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Panthers on their court since August 6, 2019.

Rainey Johnson paced Sulphur Springs' offense, picking up 20 kills. Johnson got some help from Harper Hodges and her 39 assists. Hodges also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Claire Thompson, each putting up two.

As for North Lamar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-14. While getting shut out isn't ideal, they haven't been shut out since back in September.

Despite the loss, North Lamar still got an impressive performance from Lilly Stewart, who had seven digs and three aces. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Sulphur Springs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Pleasant Grove on the 14th. As for North Lamar, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Pittsburg on the 14th.
