Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Middleton). They blew past the Madison East Purgolders 56-3 on Friday. Considering the Cardinals have won four matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Middleton can attribute much of their success to Elijah Jackson, who picked up 33 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.

Middleton's run defense was locked in: Madison East could only muster 1.7 yards per carry. The Cardinals didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 21.6.

The victory (which was Middleton's sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.0 points on average over those games. As for Madison East, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middleton will face off against Madison La Follette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Madison East, they will take on Verona at 7:00 p.m. on the 11th. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 14.1 points per game this season, so the Purgolders' offense will have their work cut out for them.
