Baseball Recap: Pearl River Comes Up Short

Pearl River extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-5 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Albertus Magnus Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pirates have suffered since April 14, 2024.

As for Albertus Magnus, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games.

For Albertus Magnus' part, Matthew Nevin was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Nevin has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Wein, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Pearl River nor Albertus Magnus have any future games scheduled.
