Baseball Recap: Norview Has No Trouble Against Norcom

After only two runs in their last game, Norview made sure to put some runs up on the board against Norcom on Tuesday. The Pilots were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Greyhounds. The result was nothing new for the Pilots, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Charlie Stelmaszek made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Norview is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-6 otherwise. Stelmaszek was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Manny Toledo and Jay Leigh did most of the damage at the plate: Toledo went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Leigh went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave Leigh a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Ludwig, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Norview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norcom only posted an OBP of .176.

Norview has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Norcom, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Norview has already played their next match, a 7-0 victory against Booker T. Washington on the 9th. As for Norcom, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 22-1 defeat against Granby on the 9th.
