Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey St. Martin Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Cristo Rey St. Martin had won two straight games and Alexy Chapa did her part to make it three on Saturday. The Cristo Rey St. Martin CRSM breezed by the Cristo Rey Jesuit Cristeros to the tune of 62-24 thanks in part to Chapa, who shot 5-for-9 from deep and dropped a double-double on 29 points and 16 boards. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Cristo Rey St. Martin's points.

Daniela Cruz was another key player, putting up two points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (two).

Cristo Rey St. Martin pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Cristo Rey Jesuit, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
