Baseball Game Preview: ALA - Gilbert North Eagles vs. Crismon Rattlers

The ALA - Gilbert North Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Crismon Rattlers at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (ALA - Gilbert North 3.9, Crismon 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Friday just wasn't the day for ALA - Gilbert North's offense. They came up short against Centennial on Friday, falling 8-0. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Crismon came tearing into Monday's matchup with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bobcats a 27-0 shutout. The Rattlers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Brantley Coplen looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Crismon got a massive performance out of Damien Parra, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave Parra a new career-high. Masen Lopez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Crismon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 26 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Crismon's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for ALA - Gilbert North, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. ALA - Gilbert North hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. However, it's not like Crismon struggles in that department as they've averaged .434. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
