Softball Recap: Bunker Hill Takes a Loss

Bunker Hill and Maiden squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Bunker Hill had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 4-3. The Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 7-3.

Serena Thurman put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Gracie Setzer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Alexis Stuebe was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Bunker Hill and nudges their season record down to 20-7. As for Maiden, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9.

As of now, neither Bunker Hill nor the Blue Devils have any future games scheduled.
