Preview: St. Pius X Panthers vs. Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors
The St. Pius X Panthers are on the road again on Friday and play against the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors at 10:30 a.m. on December 29th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Waltrip scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, St. Pius X still came out on top. St. Pius X strolled past Waltrip with points to spare, taking the game 74-59. Given St. Pius X's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 535th, while Waltrip is ranked 1140th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Metrolina Christian Academy entered their tilt with Roger Bacon with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Metrolina Christian Academy wrapped up 2023 with a 47-31 win over Roger Bacon.
Among those leading the charge was Brock Mumpower, who scored 14 points along with five assists. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Nick Crews, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
The victory got St. Pius X back to even at 10-10. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, the win also got them back to even at 7-7.
