Football Recap: Silver Lake Comes Up Short

Silver Lake dropped to 4-2 on Friday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Red Cloud Warriors, falling 67-37. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaxon Tenbensel, who picked up 107 receiving yards and four scores, and also rushed for 67 yards and one TD. Beau Bonifas was another key player, having thrown for 260 yards and five touchdowns.

As for Red Cloud, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 30 points or more this season.

Red Cloud can attribute much of their success to Hunter Englehart, who punched in two rushing scores, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. Englehart also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making four total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Silver Lake will welcome Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Tenbensel and Jayton Jones. As for Red Cloud, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Dorchester at 7:00 p.m. The Warriors will be up against the Longhorns' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.33 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
