Recap: Southwestern Piasa Birds vs. Staunton Bulldogs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wesclin, the Southwestern Piasa Birds were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Staunton by a score of 56-47. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but Southwestern was the better team in the second half.
Ian Brantley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. The match was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Rocky Darr, who scored 16 points.
Southwestern now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Staunton, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwestern will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against First Baptist Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 11th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (First Baptist Academy is ranked 369th, while Southwestern is ranked 347th). As for Staunton, they will head out on the road to face off against Jersey at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Jersey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
