Basketball Recap: Gray Plaia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Oak Mountain over Vestavia Hills

Oak Mountain came up into this matchup off a tough 38-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Vestavia Hills Rebels by a score of 53-50 on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Oak Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gray Plaia, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Kunard, who scored ten points.

Oak Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Vestavia Hills, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5.

Oak Mountain will challenge Hewitt-Trussville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oak Mountain is facing Hewitt-Trussville at the right time seeing as Hewitt-Trussville is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Vestavia Hills, they will face off against Hoover at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hoover will roll in looking for their 25th straight victory, something Vestavia Hills surely won't give up without a fight.
