Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Fernley's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

If Portola wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Fernley, they should've done a better job of containing Taylor Tollestrup. The Fernley Vaqueros snuck past the Portola Tigers with a 46-40 win on Friday thanks in part to Tollestrup, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. Tollestrup is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

Another player making a difference was Laura Rosales, who posted five points in addition to 14 rebounds and six steals. Those six steals gave her a new career-high.

Fernley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Portola, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Fernley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-45 victory against South Tahoe on the 27th. As for Portola, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-34 defeat against Yerington on the 28th.
