Basketball Recap: Word of God Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Word of God Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Victory Christian Center Kings, falling 66-37. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Holy Rams of the 72-61 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Word of God Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Prince N, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points N has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Deshawn Hicks, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 12 points.

Justyn Whitfield was his usual excellent self, going 6-for-13 en route to 20 points for Victory Christian Center. Whitfield is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last 11 games he's played. Panos Kalkavouras was another key player, going 5-for-7 on his way to 13 points.

Word of God Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Victory Christian Center, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-10.

Word of God Christian Academy has already played their next match, a 61-56 victory against NC GBB Academy on the 13th. As for Victory Christian Center, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 85-21 win against Statesville Christian on the 15th.
