Baseball Game Preview: Skyline Eagles vs. Alta Hawks

For the second straight game, Skyline will face off against Alta. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Skyline has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Skyline fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Alta on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 12-11. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost four in a row.

For Alta's part, Connor Swicegood was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Swicegood a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandros Price, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Alta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.

Alta moved to 6-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Skyline, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Skyline's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game.
