Football Recap: Bradenton Christian Starts Season with Win Against Ocala Christian

Bradenton Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 40-14 margin over the Ocala Christian Crusaders.

A big part of Bradenton Christian's win came down to the chemistry between Holland Hume and his top target Connor Henderson. Hume threw for 312 yards and five touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes while Henderson picked up 224 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Henderson really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 75 yards.

Despite the loss, Ocala Christian still got an impressive performance from Joshua Davis, who rushed for 161 yards and two scores on only 14 carries. Davis didn't just play on offense: he also made nine total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Vincent Perrella helped out on the ground, rushing for 80 yards.

Bradenton Christian will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bell Creek Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Ocala Christian, they will take on Merritt Island Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
