Softball Recap: Pittsburg Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Pittsburg strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Chanute Comets. That's more bragging rights for the Purple Dragons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pittsburg let Peyton Morey and Brilee Mantooth run wild. Morey went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, while Mantooth went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Mantooth has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Breckin Campbell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Pittsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chanute only posted an OBP of .391.

Pittsburg's victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Pittsburg will be playing at home against Columbus at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Chanute will be paying especially close attention to the Purple Dragons' matchup: after the Purple Dragons face off against Springdale, they'll take on Chanute again at 4:30 p.m. on the 27th.
