Baseball Game Preview: Elkmont Red Devils vs. Danville Hawks

The Elkmont Red Devils will head out to face off against the Danville Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Elkmont will be strutting in after a victory while Danville will be coming in after a defeat.

Elkmont took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against West Limestone, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Elkmont won by a run and slipped past West Limestone 6-5.

The team relied heavily on Jake Guthrie, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Braidyn Amick also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Danville fell victim to Vinemont and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 8-0 to the Eagles. The Hawks have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

Danville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Elkmont, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Elkmont came up short against Danville when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 11-7. Can Elkmont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
