Baseball Recap: Lee County Comes Up Short

Lee County was the 5-2 winner over Scotland when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Fighting Scots by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday.

Drew Stanfield was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lee County is 6-2 when Stanfield posts two or more runs, but 4-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Will Rannells was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Landon Miles also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Lee County now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Scotland, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Lee County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-6 loss against Green Level on the 19th. As for Scotland, they have also already played their next game, an 11-4 defeat against Richmond on the 17th.
