Soccer Game Preview: New Braunfels vs. Boerne-Champion

The New Braunfels Unicorns will take on the Boerne-Champion Chargers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

New Braunfels is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Smithson Valley just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. Neither they nor the Rangers could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Unicorns' first draw of the season.

Their goal came courtesy of Abigail Martinez, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Boerne-Champion came up short against Pieper on Friday, falling 4-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as the Chargers were already down 3-0.

With that draw, New Braunfels' record moves to 5-4-1. As for Boerne-Champion, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

New Braunfels came out on top in a nail-biter against Boerne-Champion when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will New Braunfels repeat their success, or does Boerne-Champion have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
