Basketball Recap: Quitman Takes a Loss

Quitman played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 50-29 to the Bay Springs Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since January 6, 2024.

Despite the loss, Quitman saw an underclassman step up: sophomore JHAYLA DUBOSE went 6 for 8 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was KIARRA THOMPSON, who posted seven points and four blocks.

Quitman's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8. As for Bay Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

The future could be bright for both Quitman and Bay Springs: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Quitman will try to hand Northeast Jones their tenth-straight loss when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Bay Springs will look to extend Clarkdale's 19-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
