Preview: Carmel Rams vs. Suffern Mounties

The Carmel Rams will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Suffern Mounties at 7:00 p.m. Carmel will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.

Last Friday, Carmel's game was all tied up 6-6 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They strolled past New Rochelle with points to spare, taking the game 20-6. Given Carmel's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while New Rochelle is ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The critical scores for Carmel came from Ryan Aabel and Damien Santiago.

Suffern never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mamaroneck last Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tigers 35-33.

Jephthah Joseph was a one-man wrecking crew for Suffern as he rushed for 322 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Joseph was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.

Their wins bumped Carmel to 7-1 and Suffern to 5-3.

Carmel took their victory against Suffern when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 25-0. Will Carmel repeat their success, or does Suffern have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
