Soccer Game Preview: Lake Weir vs. Vanguard

After a short break, it's finally time for some more action. The Lake Weir Hurricanes will take on the Vanguard Knights in a tournament on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Lake Weir turned things around against Dunnellon back in December of 2024. They never let the Tigers onto the board and left with a 3-0 victory.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vanguard). They were the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over Dunnellon two weeks ago. The high-scoring effort was just what the Knights needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Vanguard's win bumped their record up to 8-2-1. As for Lake Weir, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5-1.

Lake Weir suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Vanguard when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Lake Weir avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
