Volleyball Preview: Forest Park Rangers vs. Jasper Wildcats
Forest Park hasn't had much luck against Jasper recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Forest Park Rangers will face off against the Jasper Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Forest Park will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Mt. Vernon, who they hadn't topped in four consecutive meetings. Forest Park was the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Mt. Vernon on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Rangers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-17, 25-11.
Meanwhile, Jasper had already won six in a row and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They skirted past the Tigers 3-2.
Jasper took Evansville Memorial into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 21-25, 14-25, 15-11.
Jasper relied on the efforts of Haley Atkins, who had 14 digs, and Carlee Rogers, who had 19 kills, 15 digs, and 19 assists. Rogers is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in the last 27 games she's played dating back to last season.
Forest Park's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Jasper, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
