Basketball Recap: Westfair Christian Takes a Loss

If Westfair Christian was riding high fresh off their 57-33 takedown of Quincy HomeSchool last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Westfair Christian lost to the Maryville Christian Lions on the road by a 52-36 margin on Monday. Westfair Christian has struggled against Maryville Christian recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Westfair Christian lost, don't look at Griffin Prevett. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points along with seven boards and six assists. What's more, Prevett also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Prevett, who had six points.

Levi Gray was nothing short of spectacular for Maryville Christian: he went 8-for-19 en route to 18 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Gavin Ambuehl was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Westfair Christian's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Maryville Christian, their win ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-19.

Westfair Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-26 defeat against First Baptist Christian on the 20th. As for Maryville Christian, they have also already played their next match, a 53-44 loss against Valmeyer on the 20th.
