Recap: Center Point Eagles vs. Hartselle Tigers
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Center Point Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 28-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hartselle on Friday. Center Point just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Center Point's loss came despite strong showings from Therman Deon moore and Mekhi Brown. Deon moore rushed for 101 yards, while Brown picked up 145 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Brown was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards.
Ri Fletcher got back to being his usual excellent self, as he gained 119 total yards and a touchdown. Jace Preuitt got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Center Point has yet to win a matchup on the road this season, leaving them with a 7-4 record. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Hartselle, Leeds, and Oxford. As for Hartselle, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Center Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hartselle will take on Gadsden City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Gadsden City's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five games.
