Softball Recap: Granite City Comes Up Short

Granite City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 22-2 to the Greenville Comets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-8 on Saturday.

Granite City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Milyn Roehr, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Roehr hit this season.

Granite City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Greenville, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2-1 record this season.

Granite City will host Alton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greenville, they will venture away from home to face off against Centralia at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Orphans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Comets surely won't give up without a fight.
