Baseball Game Preview: Washington County Commanders vs. Bardstown Tigers

For the second straight game, Washington County will face off against Bardstown. The Commanders will take on the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Considering Washington County has lost five straight at home and Bardstown six straight on the road, this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum.

While Washington County's win against Bardstown wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Commanders had just enough and edged out the Tigers 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Commanders in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.

Camden Abell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Washington County's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 5-11 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Washington County's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dax Humes, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Humes has posted since back in March.

Bardstown's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12-1. As for Washington County, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-12.
