The Arvada West Wildcats took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against Fairview by a score of 59-46. That's another feather in the cap for Arvada West, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Arvada West to victory were Malorie Byrne and Saylor Swanson. Byrne scored 17 points along with 4 steals, while Swanson scored 24 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Walker, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Fairview's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Hickory, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Remy Tolar, who scored 12 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds.
Arvada West's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Fairview, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Arvada West will head out on the road to face off against Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairview, they will square off against Palmer Ridge at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
